How can you tell if you are a winter or a summer? Cool or warm toned? And what does it all mean?
SABA’s latest edit features neutral women’s clothing for work and play, and although these pulled-back shades are designed for effortless styling, there’s still an art to wearing neutral colours.
This is SABA’s guide to styling neutrals based on your skin tone:
WARM
For fair-skinned people, warm skin tones present as mostly green veins underneath your wrist. If you’re darker skinned, this may still be the case, but it’s also worth looking at if the base tone of your skin is yellow or gold. If the answer is yes, then you’re also in the warm undertone club.
Shades like honey, brown, ivory, tan, copper, caramel and cream look beautiful on warmer toned folks. We recommend one of our signature suits – the rust-coloured Gaia Pinstripe Vest and Wide Leg Pant is made from 100% linen, with a longline silhouette and a fully lined interior.
If you’re warmer toned, then this matching set is an effortlessly cool look that takes you from desk to dinner.
COOL
If you’re fair-skinned and have blue veins in your wrist, then you likely have cool tones. Those with darker skin should also look for skin undertones of blue, pink or red. Supermodel Alek Wek is a perfect example of someone with darker skin and cool undertones.
The best neutrals for cool skin tones are crisp white, grey, steel blue and navy.
We recommend our bright white Rita Baby Cable Knit Set. Made from cotton yarn, with ribbed trims, this is the perfect shade for women with cooler-toned skin.
Or in navy, try the Elise High Neck Mini Dress. Made from 100% linen, this mini dress has a sleeveless cut, tuck details to the neckline, and an adjustable waist tie.
NEUTRAL
Hard to spot, but by far the most versatile, you most likely have a neutral undertone if you have a balanced amount of green and blue veins underneath your wrist. This goes for fairer and darker-skinned people.
Neutral skin tones have their pick, as almost any shade will look good, but the most eye-catching are muted neutrals, like dusty pink and jade. Soft neutral shades like beige, cappuccino, mushroom grey, light peach, lagoon blue and taupe also complement your features.
People with neutral undertones can’t go past our most loved Dharma in apricot. Dharma has been made with a low-crease Japanese fabrication that offers long life due to durability. With a textured finish that is vibrant and suitable for desk-to-dinner wear, this shade is ideal to bring out the best in neutral-toned people.
